I did it!!!!

Guys….. Guess what?

I cut my haaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

Yes! ALL OF IT!

So what had happened? What’s the story? Sorry to disappoint y’all but there’s none. At least not a spicy one ~ nobody broke my heart, it’s not a declaration of any sort, it’s not the intro to some “new year/new me” BS and it’s certainly not a “big chop” a’la naturalista speak. Nothing! Except really bad split ends, a receding hairline a’la Iya Bose and a generally unhealthiness to my otherwise luscious Tiv hair.

I mean, I’ve toyed with the idea of shaving it all off for a while but I always ended up talking myself out if it. I’d tell myself that maybe I should wait till I had lost some weight ergo shed the chubby cheeks [lol], and/or wait until I had changed my wardrobe to match my new look etc. Then i’d get overwhelmed and just abort mission. Rinse and repeat!

So exactly a week ago, I took out  braids and when I tell you the braids ran away with my edges…. A mess! I just thought to myself – what the hell, it’s just hair, it’ll grow back plus I’m Tiv….hair aplenty! And that was that! There was no going back! I didn’t even let myself over-think it this time … On the night I decided, I was out by noon of the next day sitting in a barber’s chair armed with my inspiration picture like cut it!cut it!cut it!cut it! the hair is way too bad ,you need to cut it *lol*

It’s exactly a week today and I’m LOVING IT!! Shower time is a goddamn production. When the water hits my head and trickles all the way down my back, I can’t help but wonder to myself why I waited so long to do this. And then the fresh air that hits me each time I step out… Magical I tell ya!

I won’t lie, when I decided to cut it, I wasn’t sure what the outcome would be like. I worried that I’d look like a boy with breasts and it wont work with my thickums frame but let me tell y’all….. Best decision ever! As I walked out of the barber’s shop after cutting it, totally unsure about how I was feeling, I shit you guys not, some man was coming into the salon at that exact moment and said to me “you look beautiful”… whoop! I basically floated all the way back home like yea bitches! Ha ha

You know what’s surprising? The reactions I’ve been getting have been so great for my already inflated self esteem. I honestly thought I was wiping out an entire pool of potential toasters with my prepubescent boy cut but nah… It seems like what I did was open a wider pool. Heck; I’ve gone on 2 dates since this hair cut and I AM NOT COMPLAINING. LIKE AT ALL. And it’s only been a week! If we continue at this rate, I’d probably be ending 2016 with a husband. HA! jk! No not really! jk!

The only downside I’d say I’ve noticed is that with short hair, there can’t be that many “no makeup” days lest you end up looking like you’re sick.

img_5278

Without Makeup… Call me Bros!

I normally don’t wear makeup everyday [even when I’m going out] but with this new haircut, I have to at least fleek the eyebrows and dust my lips before I go out and that’s problematic for me [speaking as someone who doesn’t wear makeup everyday]. But for y’all hot potato mamacitas who do not like to carry last and generally fleek the damn face everyday, this is right up your street. So go forth and flourish!

You know what works tho? Red lips! Like… it’s a match made in short hair heaven.

I mean… am I glowing or nah? Hellur

My sister [who is totally jealous of my new hair btw] has been drooling talking about “maybe I should cut my hair too” and I’m just looking at her like ~ jealousy is a disease ~ “Amoshine when amoshine” lol. Also, she has the healthiest long hair, with perfect edges so why rock the boat when it’s not shaking? Girl bye!

My sister & I

You people should have told me sooner that life as an adult female with short hair is quite THE EXPERIENCE! I would have done it sooner. Since they didn’t, i’m here to tell you… If you’re considering taking this plunge, DO IT! All I advice is that you do your research prior – look at countless pictures of people with your face/body type rocking different short hair styles, ask your loved ones to help you pick, speak with stylists etc. There is a haircut to suit every kind of face/head shape, so find yours!

PS: Shout out to my snapchat family for helping me vote with the options I posted asking their opinions. Y’all truly came through hard. Thank you so much.

Weekend Round-up

I’m one of those people who rolls my eyes whenever I log on to a blog and the owner is apologizing for being away/too busy/too whatever to post new content; only to inevitably disappear again. I mean, what’s the point? You know you’re going to disappear again because life doesn’t ever slow down and it’s a rat race. We get it.

I don’t want that to become the story of me and this blog – going off, coming back, apologizing, and inevitably going off again – No! Let’s not do that here! So one of the things I promised myself when I decided to have my very own dot com was to never allow myself become a slave to it; in that I’d be feeling bad/guilty when I haven’t updated. I mean, I love to talk/share, it’s the reason I even thought to start this in the first place so please trust that if I anything I deem worthy of sharing, I will.

I have moments in my personal life when the highlight of my day is having a cold bottle of coke so except you want to be regaled with tales of my coke drinking expeditions, please make peace [as I have done] with the fact that there will be days, weeks, maybe months even where I do not update this space at all; and it doesn’t mean anything is wrong. Sometimes though, when I’m quiet [especially on here]; it means the inspiration is just not there and I’m sort of moping about with at least 10 incomplete drafts floating about but nothing quite done; and since those days make up a major/legitimate part of my story, I embrace them all.

I say all these to say, if you ever refresh this page and nothing new pops up, it’s just for the simple fact that I have nothing new to share [or it’s cooking]. When I have it though, I won’t need any cajoling or blackmailing. It’s super sporadic on here – 3 posts back to back some days; nothing at all on other days. I have no schedule; I just want this to be as organic as possible.

Thank you.

My friend’s mum died in a tragic car crash 2 weeks ago and it’s honestly the saddest, most painful thing I’ve experienced as an adult. Death in any form is painful; the death of a relatively young parent even more so; but the death of an otherwise healthy parent whose life just ends so abruptly [and in such a tragic manner] when there’s still so much living to be done, can never be easy. It was truly such a shock to us all.

When I heard about it, I had so many questions and none of them could be answered. But as a Christian, we are encouraged to take solace in the sovereign will of God knowing that his thoughts towards us and his will for us is perfect. And so, while we may not understand the why, God knows why and that’s enough.

I remember her as one of the most vivacious persons I’ve ever known – so fun, hearty, loud, lover of red lips and Star lager beer  and ever so full of exuberant life.  Mummy, may your soul continue to rest with the lord and I pray for strength for the ones you left behind. Amen.

***

While I was in Benue [for the funeral], my niece had this weird infection in one eye and the doctor said it was an allergy so we all didn’t think much of it. So imagine my shock when I got back to Abuja and in a few days woke up one fine morning with my own red eye. IT WAS APOLLO OMG!!!

In the first few days, the redness was in just one eye so I spent my time trying to hide it, taking one sided selfies and all lol

But by day 3, there was no hiding it. It was a full blown fiery volcano. My entire face was swollen.

I looked like I got jumped!

A friend of mine said that perhaps my big mouth had finally caught up with me and maybe I didn’t want to tell the truth so I was lying saying it was apollo lol. Because, it was truly hard to believe this was JUST apollo. Last time I had this shit, I was a child so I don’t remember it being so painful. It hurt! My eyes felt like stones, when I bent down it felt like they were going to fall out of their sockets, I always had a banging headache and was in a general pissy state. Real shitty.

With this, I basically spent valentine’s day in bed feeling sorry for myself. Nobody got me anything which is cool because I didn’t get anybody anything either [all is fair in love & war right?].

Anyways, my eyes look a lot better though so thank God.

Currently moving. It’s sad, and rough and nostalgic and beyond stressful.

Please send pizza and chicken wings.

Thanks in advance.

November Challenge

Guys! Long time no challenge.

IMG_9854.JPG Its pretty simple and self-explanatory right? [Click on the picture to get a better view]

December is approaching, nobody wants to be carrying last when there’ll be parties and dinners and all kinds of out-doorsy stuff to do, beautiful people to meet, sexy clothes to wear … you get the picture.

This challenge is very simple and is guaranteed to tuck in the extra flabs for sure. The plan is to stick with this for the entire month of November [extend to December if you please] and watch your skin glow, your mid-section shrink and your general appearance get 1o notches better. Remember to eat clean/healthy during this challenge if not, “it’s not me you’re doing, you’re doing yourself” ha ha #TwitterJoke

Feel free to swap your pomegranate juice for any other and try to make your infused water earlier in the day, its better that way. For that extra oomph, you can add 2 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) to the infused water you’d drink last thing at night. If you want to kick ass, you can juice proper … get the full scoop on juicing here.

I already shared this on twitter via @GBTheBlog last week but I know some of you aren’t following me there yet [and you really should be following me :D]. I share a lot of quick juice recipes and pretty much everything I find worthy on there, so you’re missing if you’re not following 🙂

Get hydrated! Stay healthy!

Christmas body loading… Do not carry last!

So who’s in? If you have any questions, feel free to drop them in the comments box below for me 🙂

How I managed to get my Acne under control

As a teenager, I had the clearest, smoothest skin/face even with a barely there/minimal skincare regimen. I could use basic drugstore products and not breakout in a mess and was generally fresh-faced.

The picture above was taken a day before my 18th birthday, I’m not wearing foundation, just white powder [which was my staple at the time].  The horribly thin eyebrows are a dead give-away and I don’t know what that open mouth pose was about. LOL.

So imagine my horror when in my mid 20s I noticed that my usual “Aunty flo is in town” – one zit a month face had become a full jawline of what felt like a carpenter’s sandpaper and grew increasingly worse by the day. All of a sudden, I was constantly covered in zits and would react to everything. Stress! Having acne as a teenager is normal with all that hormone surge, but when you’ve crossed the dainty age and the acne hasn’t cleared; it has instead gotten even worse, then you have what is called Adult Acne and that is an entirely different kettle of stress. However, be it teenage or adult type, acne is stressful condition to deal with especially for females. It’s on THE FACE!! That’s the first thing people notice and it can make for some very uncomfortable/awkward conversations that even though may be well-meaning, leave you feeling like you should just go home and never show your face in public. It is especially embarrassing because some people wrongly assume that having acne is a sign of poor hygiene. Not true.

Acne typically forms either as black or whiteheads which then get inflamed, filled with pus and usually leave spots and scarring. It is mostly seen on the face, back and chest [all three for people who have it really bad]. There are several causes for acne but the most common are – hormones , stress, skin sensitivity, food/diet and sadly hereditary. Some people are just genetically pre-disposed to having acne. Good news though, whatever the cause, acne can be treated and helped.

In general, I obsess about anything that’s out of place on my body; my face even more; so you can only imagine me having zits the size of a mini black eyed pea. It was so bad that I didn’t like going out and would constantly cancel plans because of breakouts which would pop up in crazy numbers overnight. The more I obsessed, the worse it got. I did everything to make it go away. LISTEN! I TRIED EVERYTHING; from normal topical creams that made my bathroom counter top & bedroom vanity table look like a mini pharmacy; to the fancy/expensive holy grail stuff, to the downright bizarre – rubbing alum on my face and cleaning with my first morning pee – Yea! I even got glycolic peel treatments that cost me about the price of a couple decent designer handbags so I’m pretty sure I would have sniffed dry goat shit if anyone suggested it.  I was THAT desperate. But the more I tried different stuff, the worse it got.

Let me mention that my typical day started by ordering McD breakfast at 4am and pizza at bedtime. In-between that; I’d walk around the mall eating cheesy hotdogs & pretzels, ice-cream, big apple frosty doughtnuts and be sure to bring back some for those midnight cravings. I always had a pack of snickers in my bedroom and all kinds of fizzy drinks to wash it down.  Then to worsen matters, I lived in an apartment block that had a food court behind it so Pakistani biryani and spicy beef was literally a 2 minute walk ANYTIME; not forgetting the cheese naan served with condensed milk. Ugh! Self-control was rubbish. Life in Malaysia was ridiculous I must say, good thing I moved but alas! the damage had been done already.

In general, Nigerians don’t think acne is something to go the doctor over [at least not in my circle] so I didn’t think to seek professional help at the initial point. However, as the acne progressed from tiny sandpaper whiteheads to humongous boils that hurt so much it was a pain to wash my face, I decided to go see a doctor.

IMG_1193

Luckily at this point, I lived in England and so NHS was a life saver; I made proper use of it. At my first consult, from seeing my face, the doctor was shocked I had waited that long to come see them and immediately put me on the strongest dose of a combination of antibiotics – Lymecycline and Co-cyprindol which I ended up being on for about 3 years. The doctor also asked that I change my pillow cases every 3 days and never wipe my face with my bath towel [I use disposable wipes/paper towels after a wash/bath till this day]. The acne cleared almost immediately but even then, I knew it was too good to be true. It was too fast!

This pic was taken a month after I commenced medication

As anyone would tell you; 3 years is waaaaaaaaaaaaay too long a time to be on any antibiotics treatment, let alone one THAT strong but I was desperate and scared that the acne would return if I stopped. And it did when I moved back to Nigeria and couldn’t access my meds as easily.  I’d get the random help here and there when I could but on the whole, lymecycline & co-cyprindol aren’t available in Nigeria so I had to come to terms with the fact that the acne was indeed going to resurface. Even though I had temporary respite, I knew that it was a temporal solution because will I be on antibiotics for the rest of my life?  It didn’t disappoint. After about 8 months of being back in Nigeria, the acne started showing up, slowly at first until I was back to pre-treatment stage PLUS jara. Just look –

IMG_1247 My desperation hit an all-time high and I got pure retinol which I used as a cleanser. It peeled my face and made people ask me if I had started bleaching [and if yes, why wasn’t I bleaching the rest of my body] lol…. So I was forced to stop. I was truly miserable.

IMG_7717.JPG IMG_7718.JPG

Because I had no other choice at this point, I was forced to start doing some research and reading up on alternatives to acne treatments and the one thing kept being re-iterated and mentioned repeatedly – THE IMPORTANCE OF A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE, DIET AND EXERCISE – I think that deep down, I already knew this was a major factor but had been lazy and would rather choose the easier way out of popping meds while I stuff my face with bad food and make some generally unhealthy choices. However, I had noticed that whenever I was juicing and maintaining a sensible exercise and diet regimen, my breakouts would be less aggressive and the spots would clear out faster.  I had to finally tell myself the truth – my severe case of adult acne had a lot to do with years of an unhealthy lifestyle, ergo, change was necessary. Now in the course of my research, I see some opinions that one’s choice of foods/lifestyle doesn’t have much to do with acne but I am a living proof that IT DOES! Why do you think some people eat roasted groundnuts or dairy products and wake up the next day with breakouts? In less than 24 hours? I am of the opinion that while topical products can help mild sporadic acne, chronic acne can only be treated from the inside out.

Now you may ask that if it was about my unhealthy lifestyle and diet, why didn’t I breakout in my teens & early 20s when I was at the time still eating horribly? I reckon this is because as one gets older, your body will force you to take note of and change certain things you could have gotten away with prior whether you like it or not and this was mine. So I set to work, CONSCIOUSLY.

WHAT AM I DOING DIFFERENTLY NOW? TIPS?

  • I work out at least 4 times a week – run, T25, rope skips, zumba etc. anything to break a sweat works. Sweating opens up your pores and the benefits are endless. A 10-30 minutes workout for at least 4 times a week will do your body/system so much good.
  • I’ve become a conscious eater. This doesn’t mean I now swallow air and drink water lol, I’ve just included a lot more fruits, veggies and fibre into my diet. I still have days when I decide to be badly behaved but they’ve become treats [and I try to make up with extra workout time]. See what I got up to just yesterday, I’m no saint. IMG_7687.JPG IMG_7689.JPG
  • I have cut out refined sugar completely. Honey is now my got-to sweetener.
  • I’ve really up’d my water intake. I never really had problems drinking water so this was easy; I even went steps further by doing more of infused water as often as I can. Try it.
  • I have cut out all the frills with my previous complicated skincare regimen. In the past, I’d use so many products before and after a bath that my poor face will just dry out and breakout from too much. Now, I only use TWO products – my bodyshop tea tree range and Soap & Glory scrubs. When I’ve run out, I make do with Neutrogena pink grapefruit wash but I’m sure to always revert to my tea tree bodyshop wash.
  • IMG_8887.PNGc26-B002BWOY3Y-pinklinedownload
  • I wash my face only twice a day with warm water and tea tree face wash. I don’t use anything else on my face.
  • I don’t clean my face with my bath/body towel; I only clean it with disposable wipes or paper napkins. Never to be repeated. I also change my pillow cases every 3 days, whether or not I’m also changing my sheets. My first dermatologist gave me this tip because apparently, pillowcases & towels are prime spots for bacteria transfer.
  • I still struggle with not picking my face but I’m truly better with it nowadays. This is a terrible habit to have if you’re battling acne. Anyone who’s dealt with acne will tell you how hard it is to NOT touch your face. One day at a time.
  • Aloe vera, cucumber and an ice pack are great for soothing the crazy itching that sometimes comes with aggressive acne. Whenever you feel the itch, do not scratch AT ALL, instead place slices of cucumber and/or an ice pack or rub aloe vera juice on the area. It really helps soothe it.
  • A great DIY face mask is a mix of oats, honey and lemon juice. Oats has scrub properties; honey is a mosturizer while lemon is great for fading black spots. I use this combo often for home facials

    DIY Home facial

  • Moisturize! Moisturize! Moisturize! I cannot stress this enough! Having overly dry face/skin will cause breakouts just as much as an overly oily one would. In picking a suitable moisturizer, be sure to take your skin type into consideration – is it dry or oily or a combo? Pick accordingly.
  • My mum gave me these Swissgarde supplements – Skin, Hair & Nails –  which I’ve also been on. It’s 100% safe and completely herbal. IMG_1849

DONTS

  • Do not pile on makeup in a bid to cover the breakout. It does nothing to cover the bumps, instead it clogs your pores and aggravates the acne; plus there’s nothing more scary to look at than an overly caked face full of humongous acne. I know all about the urge to hide behind the makeup but trust me, at your worst, makeup is NOT your friend. Just chest the bare face [and stares] for a few days till the aggressive stage passes.
  • In addition, do not ever go to bed with makeup on. No matter how tired you are, wash your face before you snooze, even in the afternoon.
  • Do not aggressively wash your face one million times a day. Washing twice a day with warm water and mild products will suffice.
  • Do not pick your face and pop your whiteheads, it’ll irritate the skin and cause inflammation/scarring. Also, picking it will cause the bacteria to spread as your hands are probably dirty anyways.
  • Do not scrub your face at the aggressive stage of a breakout, you’ll just have angry acne on your hands.

DO

  • Maintain a proper face regimen, it’s not necessarily about the fancy products, it’s all about consistency
  • Begin [and preferably end] your everyday with a cup of warm water and lemon juice [wedges]. This mix flushes your digestive system, stimulates your liver and kidney and does the whole body great good.
  • Get to know your triggers. Some people breakout when stressed, some people can’t play with groundnut; get to know yours, if any.
  • Be patient with the process. Serious acne cannot clear in a day or a week or even a month. It takes at least 8weeks for visible difference to be seen but if you hang in there, you’ll be smiling soon.

So what does my BARE face look like today? I’ll let the pictures do the talking

IMG_7759.JPG

These pictures were taken just last night. Do you see the difference? Like I actually go out without an ounce of  makeup on. Ha! *dougies*

When I now decide to rub pancake ehn…. *who’s that guuuuuuuuuuuurl*

Although this is an incredibly sensitive post for me to write, seeing as it meant posting unflattering pics of myself, I chose to write on this because it’s something a lot of women deal with and I’m hoping that by sharing, it’ll help someone jumpstart their own lifestyle change and hopefully see visible changes as I have. Guys, I kid you not, a CLEAN DIET coupled with a SENSIBLE SKINCARE & WORKOUT REGIMEN will change your lives in every aspect.

If you have any further questions, please ask me below. I’d also appreciate tips from you flawless women; share with me your skincare regimen/fresh face tips.

Domestic Goddess

So I woke up in full domestic goddess mode yesterday and let me tell you, when that spirit takes over, magic happens. It’s funny how I can live on microwaved oats and pureed veggies/fruits for weeks because I’m not in the mood to cook then on other days, I go the whole nine yards with all the frills like it’s nothing.

It started Thursday when I finally dragged myself out of my room, threw on some clothes and tricked my brother into driving me everywhere I needed to go – Cucumber & Spinach from Exclusive, chicken & eggs from Anadariya, yoghurt & fruits from games village and everything else from Area 2? [skipped Shoprite] – Is it weird that I shop like that? Like I never just enter one place and buy everything I need, much to my brother’s annoyance. It’s just that overtime, I know for sure where I can get a better deal/quality for everything I need [especially fruits & veggies] and because I am very particular, it means that on stock-up days, I end up going to at least 5 different places to buy accordingly [shout out to my brother who hates the circling but has no choice]. I had been feening for a tropical salad and grilled chicken so I set to prepping while waiting for my frozen chicken to thaw.

Can I just say, I crack myself up a lot, like I actually find myself laughing a lot when I’m by myself thanks to the voices in my head and my hyperactive imagination. While unpacking my stash, I unwrapped this monster cucumber and I couldn’t help but post to my social media.

Of cos I got the boys riled up when I asked “Does this cucumber intimidate you?” LMAO [Shout out to Zim for the monster cucumber she DM’d me]; A MESS!! Hahahaha

An hour had gone by at this point and NEPA was still out which meant I couldn’t use the microwave to defrost the chicken; it still hadn’t thawed. I started forcing the chicken to let me work it but baby girl just won’t budge!! She locked her thick thighs so tight; just look at this…..

And I just couldn’t help myself yet again so I posted it to my social media pages like why is this chicken playing hard to get? I’ve been trying to get her to open her legs for over an hour but she’s just not having it. Perhaps she’s nun chicken in chickendom? Maybe raised in a convent? And I know damn well it’s a she chicken because no boy/man [especially not in the chicken world] needs to be convinced to open his legs, let alone for an entire hour, okay?! We kuku know what cocks get up to! Ha [the puns just won’t stop]! I got some hilarious responses..…

I was cracking up so bad.

Anyways, when she finally let me in [no pun], I cut out the pieces I needed, washed and left them in a colander to drain excess water, then I spiced it up and left it sitting overnight in the refrigerator to marinate.

The marinate spice is made of  – pepper, garlic, thyme, garlic salt, black pepper, knorr maggi and salt.

Lest I forget, let me say; I’m always so happy when my common sense kicks in and aids in my quest to be more frugal. I went to Anadariya with the intention of buying chicken cutlets – breasts and thighs – but then I got there and found that a pack of chicken breasts which contained 6 breast pieces cost about N1150 and the thighs were about N980 for 4 pieces, but a full chicken as pictured above cost about N1250. So what did I do? I fashied the cutlets and instead bought TWO FULL chickens from which I was able to get 4 full thighs(with 4 drumsticks) and 8 pieces of chicken breasts; the extra parts of the chicken that were left but I didn’t really need for my grill recipe have been used to make me a yummy pot of chicken stew. …. All for the bargain price of just N2500 [difference of just N370]. I felt pretty good with myself for my quick thinking. Dear husband, I’m ready to run a home 😀

By noon of yesterday, my marinated chicken bits were ready to be grilled and that’s exactly what I did – whipped out my trusty Tfal skillet, oiled it lightly with some olive oil and went to town.

Less than 10mins in and my entire house was transformed into everything you love about summer [you fancy folk].

 IMG_6573.JPG IMG_6576.JPG IMG_6579.JPG

Funny Story: I bought that Tfal skillet from Target last time I was in Chicago. As it’s always the case when you enter a Target, I didn’t go there looking to buy a skillet, but there was a flash sale and the cheapskate in me couldn’t help myself. I was leaving the next day and as I packed, it dawned on me that I hadn’t thought this through… how am I going to bring this thing back to Abuja? So you know what I did? I chucked it into my carry-on bag – a large LV Neverfull – and spent the entire trip getting weird looks from people. I’m sure the fact that there was an obvious pan handle sticking out of a Louis Vuitton handbag added to the confusion because I’m guessing people would expect the owner of said bag to be a bit more “babe-ish” right? Imagine getting to the TSA line [and every other security check point] and pulling a skillet out of your handbag because metal, or getting up mid-flight to remove a book from your handbag in the overhead stow but there’s no way to do that without bringing the skillet out first. Yup! I was THAT NIGERIAN on the flight but my unlooking game was on 100. And listen; since I was flying Air France, we had a lay-over in Paris so I’m basically that stereotypical black person walking around Charles De-Gaulle carrying questionable shit.…. IN THE MOST ROMANTIC CITY IN THE WORLD. I reckon that’s why nobody toasted me that entire trip *tears* In hindsight, I should have wrapped it up or something but I’m sure the handle would still have given me away. But you know what? Today, with this mouthwatering picture and the tasty turnout of my chicken, this skillet has redeemed itself for the shame I chopped for it. Cool story over. LOL

Following my “she won’t open her legs” joke, yesterday, I posted a photo of my ready-to-eat juicy grilled chicken and obviously some of you were still in the mood for naughty jokes:

It did indeed! And that’s a lesson in patience for us all. But you lot are enablers of bad behavior! Y’all got jokes!

Anyways, that done, I set on to my tropical salad – finely chopped and thoroughly mixed together.

What you need: Avocado, Carrot, Cucumber, Sweet Corn, Mango, Tomatoes, Grilled Chicken

I used a simple dressing – a quick mix of lemon juice, unsweetened yogurt and honey.

Then I made jollof rice.

I served my tropical salad in a bed of lettuce, with grilled chicken and a drizzle of my homemade dressing. Yummers!

Don’t tell anyone but after taking pretty pictures, I went and added Jollof rice to my plate because……. Gerrarahia mehn! LOL

The rest of my boozy saturday will be spent doing just that… Boozing. Domestic Goddess….. out!

How are you guys doing? Hope you’re having a lovely weekend?

Besos xx
